600 Mya to 200 Mya

600 mya to 200 Mya (Mya means million years ago)

600 Mya: A burst of evolutionary creativity simultaneously gave rise to the basic body plans of all multicellular (animals?)

550 Mya to 490 Mya: is about the measure of the Cambrian Period. The Cambrian Period includes the following  Epochs: Furongian, Miaoligian, Series 2, Terreneuvian,

251.9 Mya to 201.3 Mya, Triassic Period: The fires geological period of the Mesozoic Era. The Triassic period is between the Permian and Jurassic periods. First evidence of mammals, a mouse size critter, found to lie within the Triassic period. this geologic period ended with a mass extinction of species.

200 Mya to 145 Mya, Jurassic period:  The Jurassic lies between the Triassic and Cretaceous periods. The super-continent, Pangaea began to drift apart  during this time There was lots of life, wet climate, and lush vegetation. Many new dinosaurs appeared. There was a "minor" mas extinction toward the end of the Jurassic period. Conifers appeared. Mammals were common, but small. There is evidence of first birds and lizards.

140 Mya to 70 Mya Mesozoic era, Cretaceous period: early and late

132.9 Mya, Early Cretaceous period: Hauterivian. Horned dinosaurs evolve on land as do Eusuchia.

129.4 Mya, Early Cretaceous period: Barremian. Tyrannosaurs, Titanosaurs. duckbills.

125 Mya, Early Cretaceous Period: Aptian. New types of dinosaurs.

113 Mya, E.C. Period: Albian. echinoids and sponges are common.

100.5 Mya, Late Cretaceous Period: Cenomanian. Ammonoidea, belemites, rudist bivalves.

93.9 Mya, Late Cretaceous Period: Turonian. Ammonoidea.

89.8 Mya, Late Cretaceous Period: Coniacian. More modern teleost fish begin to appear.

86.3 Mya, L. C. Period: Santonian. New insects, Ammonoidea.

83.6 Mya, L C. Period: Campanian. Flowering plants and new types of insects.

72.1 Mya, L. C. Period: Maastrichtian. Flowering plants proliferate.

70 Mya to 50 Mya Timeline: Paleocene

70 Mya to 50 Mya, Paleocene

67,000,000 BP: An extraterrestrial object struck Earth and marked the end of the Cretaceous Period and began the Tertiary.

66 Mya: Paleocene, Danian: Alpine orogeny begins in Asia and Europe. Large mammals begin to appear up to bear or small hippo size,

65,000,000 BP: It is said that a comet did enormous damage to our Earth. About this time an extraterrestrial object struck Earth and marked the end of the Cretaceous and the beginning of the Tertiary period,

61.6  Mya: Paleocene, Selandia: Climate tropical, modern plants appear, mammals diversify

59.2 Mya: Paleocene. Thanetian. Started with the Chicxulub impact and the K-Pg extinction event.

50,000,000 BP: About this time there was a massive explosive volcanic eruption near what is now Bennett Lake, British Columbia, Yukon Canada.

200 Mya: Pangea existed as present continents united.

~ Gigantopithecus, after flourishing for at least six million years, disappears. (Natural History 11/91)

~ Greece: An excellent Old Stone Age axe dating to about this time was found.

~ USA: In a site near Barstow, California Stone Age tools were found suggesting approximately this time.
